The Iranian Americans for Liberty (IAL) organization condemns the missile attack launched by the Islamic Republic against #Israel on the night of October 1, 2024, as a flagrant violation of Israel’s sovereignty. This attack is yet another instance of the Islamic Republic’s persistent belligerence. For years, the regime has fueled conflict and violence by supporting militant terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, further escalating regional tensions.
This recent attack underscores the Islamic Republic’s failure to develop conventional military forces capable of protecting Iran’s borders. For decades, instead of investing in a capable national defense, the Islamic Republic regime has relied on ideological proxy militias throughout the #MiddleEast, falsely portraying them as Iran’s defense mechanism. For decades, the regime’s leaders have misled both themselves and the Iranian people, claiming that building militias and getting involved in conflicts in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Gaza, and Lebanon is essential to preventing conflict from reaching the mainland of Iran. However, it has become evident to both Iranians and the international community that these proxies are not a protective shield for Iran; quite the opposite, they repeatedly pull Tehran into regional tensions and conflict.
The Iranian people seek peaceful coexistence and constructive relations with other nations. Nevertheless, the Islamic Republic continues to promote tension and Islamic extremism across the Middle East, acting against the will of its own people. Through its funding and arming of terrorist groups, the regime has caused countless innocent lives to be lost in the turmoil of war.
This missile attack on Israel further demonstrates the Islamic Republic’s dedication to advancing extremist and expansionist ideologies, prioritizing these goals over the welfare and national interests of the Iranian people.
The IAL maintains that lasting peace in the Middle East can only be achieved by ending the Islamic Republic’s aggressive policies and supporting the Iranian people’s pursuit of freedom and a representative government. Such a government would prioritize the interests of the Iranian people rather than the spread of a revolutionary ideology throughout the Middle East. Iran should function as a sovereign nation-state, not as a staging ground for exporting revolutionary doctrines.
